Technology and Society Introduction There are those who would claim that technology has not adversely influenced society in any overt way, and in fact that â€Å"technology has made society more durable,† yet in spite of this claim, it becomes clear that the technology/society divide and its subsequent associations have caused a vast number of problems within society today, not the least of which is the blurring of the line between the use of technology and basic societal interactions, resulting in a disconnect in society, the likes of which have never before been seen (Latour, 1990, p. 103). It has even been purported that the inclusion of technology to the degree by which it is currently used, a degree which continues in an ever increasing pattern, serves to indicate that the continued use and continued inclusion of technology within society will only serve to make society as a whole worse for its use (Wu, 2014). Through a review of different ways in which technology has influenced changes within todayâ€⠄¢s society, it will be possible to show, if not where the balance shifted between the positivity of the inclusion of technology in society to a negative influence, then the manner in which the current usages of technology have served to directly impact the manner in which society currently functions.
